Printer says paper jam but there is no paper stuck

Clearing a phantom paper jam. The printers report a jam when a paper-path sensor is blocked, even by a fragment too small to see. 1. Open every door and tray, then close each one firmly. Half-closed doors are the most common cause. 2. Remove the tray completely and look for a torn corner in the feed path. 3. Check the duplex unit at the rear. 4. Power cycle: off, 30 seconds, on. This resets the sensors. If it persists after a power cycle, the sensor itself has failed. Open a ticket and include the printer's room number and the asset tag on its front panel.
